WATER SAFETY. ACCESS. OPPORTUNITY.

Building safer,

Changing the narrative around aquatics

Across the country, DIA connects people and organizations working to make water safer and aquatics more welcoming and accessible.

Nationally connected and locally grounded, we support the leaders and communities who open doors, build knowledge, and shape a more inclusive future for aquatics.

Together, we are changing who has access, who is represented, and who has the opportunity to lead, while strengthening the water safety education, research, and community-based work that helps save lives.

The Foundation of Our Network

These four areas shape how DIA and its network help save lives and expand opportunity in and around the water. Together, they strengthen water safety, widen access, build pathways into leadership, and turn community knowledge and research into action.

Water Safety and Drowning Prevention

We help families, schools, and communities build the knowledge and lifesaving skills to be safer in and around the water.

Access and Aquatic Opportunity

We help remove barriers to instruction, facilities, equipment, sport, wellness, and lifelong participation.

Education, Training, and Careers

We help aquatic professionals and emerging leaders gain the training, credentials, connections, and career opportunities to grow.

Research and Advocacy

We bring data, lived experience, history, and community knowledge together to strengthen water safety and drive lasting change.

More ways to participate, lead, and belong

Aquatics encompasses swimming, adaptive aquatics, scuba diving, rowing, triathlon, fitness, recreation, research, education, collegiate programs, careers, and more.

DIA’s National Aquatic Councils connect people across these disciplines so they can share knowledge, strengthen their work, and create more ways for others to take part.

Whether you come to aquatics through safety, sport, wellness, education, service, or research, there is a place to contribute and lead.
